Dr. Christos Christou

Dr Christos Christou is the international president of MSF, as well as an experienced emergency surgeon. He trained in general, emergency, and colorectal surgery in Greece and the UK, and has provided surgical care in conflict zones including South Sudan, Iraq, and Cameroon. Dr Christou has been involved with MSF since 2002, initially working as a field doctor with migrants and refugees in Greece, followed by an HIV/AIDS project in Zambia. He has held multiple leadership roles within MSF Greece, including general secretary, vice-president, and president of its Board of Directors, before being elected MSF’s international president in 2019.
