Surgical Airways & Intubation

During this workshop, we will be discussing how an airway can be compromised in the context of trauma, exploring difficult airway society guidelines and how these relate to airway management in the context of trauma. 

You will have the opportunity to perform a simulated endotracheal intubation with direct laryngoscopy and simulated emergency needle cricothyroidotomy & oxygen insufflation. 

You will learn to perform the emergency surgical cricothyroidotomy using the "scalpel, bougie, tube" technique and understand the difference between surgical cricothyroidotomy and tracheotomy.
