Prof. Simon Holmes

Professor Simon Holmes is Professor of Craniofacial Trauma and Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal London Hospital, where he has led the Craniofacial Trauma Team since 2003. He specialises in facial reconstructive surgery and aesthetics, developing a unique multidisciplinary approach that integrates innovative surgical techniques and digital treatment planning. With an international reputation in complex cranioorbital reconstruction, he has published widely, contributed to major textbooks—including a BMJ Prize-winning surgical text—and serves on multiple editorial boards. Professor Holmes lectures globally, leads a distance learning MSc in craniofacial trauma at QMUL, and is actively involved in training, research on injury assessment, forensic analysis, and embedding facial trauma services in international first-aid collaborations.
